still ill

Yay. Molly and Stacy read my blogs. I must be popular.

My throat is still sore, very sore, and I now have a crappy cough, so poor Kirsten has heard me coughing, spluttering and whining for three whole days now.

However the planning for the Halloween party is going well, at least we've planned the alcohol and how to make it look more blood like. That's exciting.

Ah, bed is calling.

Halloween

After as prompt from Molly - the only person who missed my blogs apparently... I decided to start again.

We have just got back from Morrisons with a bag of magazines, chocolate, lucozade, vitamin c and cold and flu medicine. Yes - I am ill - and be prepared to hear a lot about it. I am a bad patient. And when my throat feels like it's been cut with razors, I can't speak too much, but I can still write. So this is probably going to be my outpouring. I am feeling a little bit bad as my housemate has been really good about my moaning, and now she's starting to come down with it too. So sorry Kirsten!

I've been planning the Halloween / Kirsten's birthday party. I need a good outfit so any suggestions would be appreciated. As you know I'm not so much of a fancy dress person so I'm going to really try this year. I am VERY excited about the chocolate.

Anyway, it's time for bed, early night tonight.

Sex Pest Seal

This news report is hillarious. Good old BBC. Poor Penguin.

'An Antarctic fur seal has been observed trying to have sex with a king penguin.

The South African-based scientists who witnessed the incident say it is the most unusual case of mammal mating behaviour yet known.

The incident, which lasted for 45 minutes and was caught on camera, is reported in the Journal of Ethology.

The bizarre event took place on a beach on Marion Island, a sub-Antarctic island that is home to both fur seals and king penguins.

Why the seal attempted to have sex with the penguin is unclear. But the scientists who photographed the event speculate that it was the behaviour of a frustrated, sexually inexperienced young male seal.

The 100kg seal first subdued the 15kg penguin by lying on it.

The penguin flapped its flippers and attempted to stand and escape - but to no avail.

The seal may have been frustrated in its attempts to find a partner

The seal then alternated between resting on the penguin, and thrusting its pelvis, trying to insert itself, unsuccessfully.

After 45 minutes the seal gave up, swam into the water and then completely ignored the bird it had just assaulted, the scientists report.'

RIP Boris the hamster

So we have some sad news on Sunday, Boris the hamster passed away. Altogether now, aww. So far the ground has been too frozen to bury him, so the funeral isn't taking place yet. Maybe tomorrow.

On a more positive note, we're thinking of getting a pig. Not a big one, but one we can keep in the house. A minature pig, if you will. I'm thinking that it will be fun, and give the cat a bit of competition and keep her in line.

Seriously, how cute is he.

My birthday night out

We had a fantastic meal out on Saturday for my pre-birthday celebrations. The highlight was the whole pub singing happy birthday to me at midnight. Turns out it was more embarrassing than I realised it would be...my cheeks are still burning! But thanks guys for doing that!
I had a slightly awkward coversation with someone who obviously knew who I was. He spent a good hour or so talking to me and I had NO idea who he was or how he knew me. It was painful. Only on the way home did I realise who he was. Turns out I used to drink with him every weekend in the pub when I was seventeen/eighteen! Maybe my memory is going with my old age...?

I survived

Well my toes didn't fall off and I didn't die - I survived the Christmas Day Swim!!
It was cold, freezing in fact, and raining, and the tide was out which didn't make it any easier but despite that it was good fun, and I may even consider doing it again.

Also the most exciting thing is that I have a new laptop and I am loving it! I'm having fun exploring the delights it has to offer. AND it has wireless internet. Finally I have caught up with the rest of the world.

Christmas tomorrow! and while you're all in the warm and opening presents please remember me. IN THE SEA. For the Christmas Day Swim! I am so scared and a little worried that me toes might fall off with the cold. I'm not sure if that can happen but just in case...

Merry Christmas

Christmas Blues

I had a shcok today when I realised that I didn't like Malt Loaf anymore. Well its not that I 'disliked' it, but more that I wasn't thrilled to be eating it. It was more like I would eat it if there wasn't anything left in my fridge. Which creates a dilemma. If I don't like Malt Loaf anymore then does that mean I will stop liking my other favourite foods? Would the world end if I stopped loving marmite?

My arms ache from putting together my new dining table this weekend and then putting up the christmas tree. I am feeling very tired and grumpy and not as some may put it 'in the Christmas mood.' I have tried the christmas songs, the wrapping presents and sending cards, but to no avail. Ahhh, poor me.

It was the christmas party this weekend for work, kind of the final farewell as we are all redundant soon. Anyway, despite the service and food being terrible at the hotel, the night was a good night. I may have accidently propositioned the boss, I really didn't mean it to come out the way it sounded, I was just tyring to make polite conversation after consuming a few bottles of wine... and he disappeared soon after so maybe he was a little scared!

Jingle Bells, Jingle Bells.

Halloween was a good night, Hilary came over, we ate chocolate, watched the Omen, and had lots of trick or treaters. I think I'm only just coming down from the sugar high.

Bonfire night was fantastic as usual. I went home for the Hunstanton one and the fireworks were amazing. I took some photos to share but I seem to have lost the lead for the camera. So I'll keep you on tenterhooks for a little longer.

Today I went for a walk in Hunstanton with Mum and my aunt. About a mile into the walk I looked down and realised I was wearing odd shoes, one black, one brown. That kind of shows the mind set I have been in this weekend...

Happy Halloween - nearly!

Yum Yum Yum

I've just roasted some pumpkin seeds and they taste lovely! I can't stop eating them!

And I have just carved a fantastic pumpkin - I will add pictures soon. I'm so excited and hyped up on sugar from the chocolate I bought for the trick or treaters tomorrow and ate already...

Anyway, tomorrow is going to be fun. Hilary and I will be watching scary films, eating pizza and drinking wine, while dressed up in Halloween masks. Hilary doesn't know about the masks yet...

Does anyone know a good recipe for the goopy bits inside the pumpkin?

Sorry to those who noticed I haven't been blogging - (Molly).
Here's a brief update of my life at the moment...

Good News:
The smelly freak of a lodger has gone.
I'm getting a redundancy payout next year.
It's neally Halloween, which means it's nearly BONFIRE NIGHT!!!!
My back is (fingers crossed) fixed!

Bad News:
I have no money now I have no lodger.
I'm being made redundant, as is everyone else where I work. Fun times looking for a new job!
I'm shocked that Dumbledore was apparently gay.
I have a cold.

I went to a Madonna tribute act the other night with Hilary, which was one of the funniest things I've seen in a while. Some old woman dressed up in leotard jumping around a stage. Almost like seeing the real thing....
But a fantastic night!

New look

I had a spur of the moment decision at the hairdressers today to get my hair cut off. Not all of it, not a Britney breakdown cut, but kind of a bob, but longer at the front. I quite like it. The scariest thing was when Krystal, my hairdresser, put her hand around my hair, so it was kind of in a pony tail, and chopped it all off. But I'm really pleased with it. Although most of my family haven't even noticed yet...

I'm ALIVE

I've finally got the computer up and running, although it's the old, slow, huge computer so it's a little bit tempremental.

The lodger is still here, making my life misery. Although he has finally started to wash, so the smell isn't quite as bad as before. And as long as I hide all my mail, it means he can't read it. The things you put up with when it comes to paying your mortgage!

I have a slipped disc again and have a huge amount of medication to help with the pain, which has the effect of making me feel really, really high all day. It was the strangest thing being at work and feeling soo high. I dread to think what I was saying to my customers! I've come down a little from it now and the room isn't spinning quite so much, so I can string together a sentence now.

I'm investing in a new computer over the next few weeks so I will be able to use the internet again more! Yay! My SIMS addiction has been replaced with a Facebook addiction so I'm, not sure if that's good or bad.... On that subject, I can't believe someone used the phrase 'You went into finance too! Awesome!' on my facebook wall. Who gets that excited about finance?

Alton Towers

Well we finally made it to Alton Towers. We had aimed to go in May, but because certain people couldn't get their acts together - not me - it got postponed until September. But we finally went. It was amazing and definately worth the wait.

Highlights of the day:
Mark threatening two ten year olds on the rapids, who then laid in wait for us after we finished the ride.
Mark using the phrase 'you pump it, you pay for it' to an icecream man.
Paul sulking after LOSING at Duel.
Mark getting scared and insisting on holding on to us both in Hex, the lamest, least scary ride on the planet.
Mark and Paul playing tiffanys 'I think we're alone now', the whole journey home. Trying to get the harmonising right.

It was one of the funnest days of the year and I am definately buying the season ticket next year.
